We are a tech startup based in Downtown Manhattan, backed by top-tier Silicon Valley venture capital. Our mission is to keep people safe and informed. The Citizen app for iOS and Android provides instant alerts about incidents and events happening around you and creates total transparency with live video and real-time updates.
We like to hire proactive, creative leaders who value autonomy and share our mission. You may be right for this role if most or all of the following describe you:
You’re product-obsessed. You’ve worked with designers and product teams. You care about quality down to the most minor detail, and know how to identify and describe bugs and app issues – from the smallest UI design discrepancy, to UX inconsistencies that no one’s even thought of, to major crashes and application errors.
You’re a technical collaborator who has experience with video streaming. You’ve worked on a video streaming product and are aware of the technical and product challenges in the space. You can write detailed documentation of issues in Github (or other issue trackers), are great at collaborating with engineers, and understand software development lifecycles.
You’re independent and have built QA processes. You have created processes to log, triage, and prioritize a pipeline of bugs and defects. You’ve built beta testing programs that harness the testing power of a larger group of internal and external testers. You’re adaptable and open to evolving programs and processes over time as needs change.
You have 3+ years experience in scripting and automation. An ideal candidate would also have experience in – or at least the interest and background to be able to learn – test automation strategies and technologies. You may have experience with automated testing in XCode or Android/Espresso, or cross-platform automation frameworks like Appium. You understand when it’s best to apply automation versus when to use manual testing.
Own the quality of our products. You’ll be the primary person designing and executing our QA process, involving a mix of both manual and automated testing, on both our iOS and Android apps.
Build a QA workflow. You’ll help identify and build our testing workflow and toolset, and organize our QA process for multiple apps. You’ll work with the engineering and product team to make sure that QA functions seamlessly with our product development cycle.
Build our beta testing program. After we’ve refined our core QA process, you’ll build out our internal and external beta testing program and develop a system to prioritize bugs and issues reported by our community.
